So you’ve got the interview arranged for the job you want… what next?
There are a range of things you need to consider, and one of those things is your personal presentation. How you come across in the first seconds can make or break your chances, even before the interview proper has begun.
Getting on the right career path could be worth a huge amount of money to you over future years. Why not put a little investment into it, and give yourself an edge over the competition?
Here are some pointers on dress code from Pat Lister at Topaz Image Consultancy to get you thinking…
• Research the company and find out what their branding values, culture, expectations and standards are (may be influenced by industry or sector work environment and location, quality standards, statutory requirements); they may have a dress/grooming code or policy.
• Dress appropriately for interview and as if you are already a member of the team and have been successful in the interview process. Dress to suit the employer’s expectations of all its employees, managers and leaders. Consider what those who interview you will be wearing and what their position and influence could have on the outcome of the interview. Do they expect conformity – suited/booted, collar and tie, uniform or corporate colours or clothing? Be smart and professional and look the part.
• Wear understated accessories. No Mickey-Mouse watches, diver’s chronometers; no clunky bracelets or earrings, no body piercing jewellery on display. Minimal “bling”. Good quality handbag, briefcase, portfolio, pen, spectacle case (leave big bags/luggage, rucksacks at reception)

A special thanks to our own consultants and support staff. Their dedication and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty keeps Rilwood at the forefront of the industry.
New website goes live!
Rilwood, in partnership with Flair Creative and Wonder Media, are proud to announce its new website for 2012. Operations Manager James Willerton commented: “We wanted something which reflected the professionalism and scale of the business, and which didn’t fall into the usual recruitment clichés of improbable groups of smiling people in suits looking successful.
The new look is fresh. At Rilwood, we do the basics of recruitment exceptionally well. We get to the heart of the value-add by finding great recruits for our clients; placing people who make positive impact to business in these challenging times.
I believe our new website shows a modern business with expertise in key vertical markets, and a focus on doing the things which get results.”
The new site goes live as Rilwood looks to build on 8 years of growth. The business continues to invest in its people and infrastructure as it builds on an enviable track record.
London Office Move
In order to provide an improved environment for staff and visitors, the London office moved to prestigious offices in the City from 1st December 2011.
Mark Beattie, who runs the office as well as operating as Business Manager over the FMCG division, has had a busy time!
The new office gives bright and modern meeting facilities for clients and candidates, and is situated in a vibrant part of the City, next to the Barbican Centre, two minutes walk from the Barbican tube station.
Given the expansion plans of the business, it was also important to find a new location which gave the room to bring in more consultants, and provides a great place to work or meet.
For more information on our London business, please contact us on the main Rilwood number, or Mark Beattie directly on 0207 826 8518.
